SEDATION 4  Update

Update:  August 15, 2004 1800 EDT

Moving from the lagoon to the new mooring, 960' offshore Banana River Marine,  was fun.  I spent the night of July 1st beached on the north shore of the west sandbar at "Bird Island" .  It was nice to be out of the lagoon and the lack-of-bugs was wonderful, but the birds just DON'T SHUT-UP at night so it's difficult to sleep with all that racket!  The next morning, I gave the boat a thorough scrubbing bow-to-stern and top-to-bottom.  Whew!!!  There's a lot of surfaces to wash.  Nevertheless, a clean yacht is a happy yacht :)

By mid-afternoon, SEDATION 4 was safely moored to her new bouy.  A well-deserved Happy Hour began early on July 2 to commemorate the occasion.

I still don't wear a watch, but I actually purchased new battaries for both of them just-in-case.  Why???  I dunno.   My "biological clock" still awakens me between 0400 an 0420 every day, regardless of the time I finally turn-in.  This can be annoying when you've been playing all night up-river and don't return aboard until after 0300.  Access to happy hours is frequently hindered by late-afternoon squalls and thunderstorms, which is typical of late-summer Florida weather.

Progress on the rigging and fitting-out of SEDATION 4 is slow but methodical.  Electrical systems are the most time consuming.  It took almost 3 days just to install the refrigeration systems for the bar's Ice Maker and 'fridge.  I fabricated a shelf for the 3 compressors from dense (heavy) 1" polymer board, to attenuate any vibrations, and proceeded to install the plethora of wires, relays, switches and component boxes.  Those systems should be maintenence-free for decades!  Installation and plumbing of the seawater cooling pump completed the job and the first ice cubes dropped into the bin around happy hour on July 22.  By Sunday, the 60 pound bin was full.  Having on-board icemaking capability is wonderful!

Tarynn dropped-by for a day.  We took the dinghy through the locks and ate at Grills, then explored the river some.  She had to leave for her sister's wedding but it was great to see her (and pictures of Lester) again.  Here she is awakening, on the settee,  to lattes at sunrise :)
